Our Five Step Home Building Process

1. Consultation & Initial Brief

During our initial meeting, we’ll discuss your design, your desired outcome, talk about different options, and provide you with guidance on how we can work together on your home build. We’ll discuss key points like your budget, timeframes, design ideas (get out your Pinterest board!), and the things that matter most.

2. Concept & Pricing

Based on our initial consultation and brief, our team will determine the feasibility of the project, the concepts that we have discussed, and how we can work together to achieve your goals. The initial concept will then be used to provide a quote and pricing breakdown that includes what you can expect to pay for the project and the different options (such as materials) that are available.

3. Planning & Design

Once we’ve locked in a design and you’ve accepted the quote, we’ll get to work designing and planning. We’ll need to work quickly to get your building application together so that we can submit planning as soon as possible. The faster that we can move through this phase and submit designs to the local council, the faster we’ll be able to get underway!

4. Building & Construction

The building and construction phase begins. Our team gets to work creating your dream home. Whether you’re knocking down an existing property, adding to it, or we’re building on a new plot of land – we’ll handle the entire process. We work with local plumbers, electricians, and other contractors to coordinate the entire project and make it as ‘hands-off’ as possible for you. We provide both residential and commercial construction in Canberra – which means we have the resources and tools to tick every box.

5. Project Handover

Once the building is complete, the final step is to conduct a handover and run through all of the building approvals. We will walk you through the renovations, provide you with all of the necessary compliance certification and submit relevant documents to the local council on your behalf. Will I need to get building approval before starting?

Yes, new home builds in Canberra require building approval (BA) and development approval (DA) before you get BA. How long it takes to get your development approval (DA) will depend on how busy the office is at the time when you submit your approval, as well as any push back that may come from neighbours.

Once your documents are submitted, it can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months to get approval. In some cases, there may be some back and forth required to get things across the line.

How much does a new home build cost?
